Dec. 2006 – present: Chief Editor, Al-arab Newspaper
In December 2006, he resigned from Al-Jazeera.net, and began establishing "Al-arab Newspaper," which was launched to the market and its first issue has been distributed on the 18th November 2007. During this period, he put financial, administrative and editing regulations for the newspaper and worked on every detail and formed a working group of about 120 employees working in the field of editing, directing and administration. “Al-arab Newspaper” is the only one that is being run by the computer without using paper.
On 15/05/2007, he was appointed a member of the Board of Directors of "Aljazeera network", and was elected by the Board to head the Auditing Committee.
He is also a member of the board of directors Islamweb.net
July 2001- Dec 2006: Chief Editor of Arabic website, Aljazeera.net
Responsible for running news portals for the Arabic and English language websites of the Aljazeera Satellite Channel. With more than 100 staff members from different nationalities , background and cultures , www.aljazeera.net and http://english.aljazeera.net publish up to the minute news content on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. As chief editor, he conducted daily meetings with managing editors from both websites ensuring quality and smooth operations of day-to-day operations whilst striving to enhance our position as a trusted news leader. Beginning April 2005 the English site joined Aljazeera international and from that date I became in charge of the Arabic portal only. The Arabic portal attracts half a million viewers / day and 45 million hits/ day , it is the largest and most expensive Arabic portal on the net. He is also a member of Aljazeera channel editorial board.
1997-2001: Chief Editor, Al Sharq and the Peninsula Newspaper
Chief Editor of Al Sharq daily newspaper (Arabic) and The Peninsula daily English language newspaper, responsible for guiding day-to-day operations of Qatar’s leading dailies. Unique situation as both papers were separate operations and consisted of unique coverage based on its readership. During this period he wrote in various issues like The Arab-Persian relation , Hezbollah in Lebanon, Sudan, Islamic movement in Jordan and the Gulf cooperation council. He also interviewed the Sudanese president, the Pakistani president and so many other decision-making personalities in the middle east region.
1987- Present: Columnist, Various Newspapers
During this time he has been writing weekly columns pertaining to Middle East and global political affairs for Al Watan newspaper (Qatar) and Al Ghad newspaper (Jordan) and Al Watan newspaper (Oman). I also write occasionally for Al Hayat newspaper (London) and Al Quds Al Arabi (London) and Araa magazine published by Gulf research Center- Dubai.
2002 Media Conflict and Terrorism Forum, Germany
He was a speaker and presented a working paper to the conference on media objectivity during the 2001 war in Afghanistan.
2003 Islam and Japan, Kingdom of Bahrain
He
was a speaker and presented a paper on the same subject matter which was subsequently printed and distributed.
